Embroidery - Shakespeare

A friend of mine is a big Shakespeare fan and she's just moved into her on place so I thought one of her favourite quotes might be a nice present!

It's silver thread on navy cotton.

I framed it as well, but it's a pain to photograph though!

Oven Gloves

Were very much on my Christmas gifting list this year!  I actually made 3 pairs but entirely for got to photograph one, so there's just the two in this post.

I made these red ones for a friend who loves his music (and whose wife handily mentioned they are aiming for a red kitchen!).

The green ones were for a friend who's house is slowly becoming festooned with my sewing (poor so and so!), so I knew the green would tone with their colour scheme and the yellow might just be the last tiny scraps from his wedding frock coat!

The not pictured set were blue floral and to tone with aprons I'd already made in that house (no point matching the kitchen as it's about to be redecorated).

Little Dress Up Outfit - Ana

Another Christmas make!  We've still got a few to go round here!

After the success of the Elsa birthday gift I knew Ana had to be the follow up!  The top is velvet with lycra sleeves and the skirt is polycotton.

As you can see, I made an attempt at fabric painting!  It worked well  on the skirt but less well on the bodice.

I made the fastenings velcro and it has a cotton ribbon tie.

It has been very well received and I am assured there's no abatement in the Frozen fever at the house of it's owner!

Tiny Dress

So, on Monday I showed you my Cheshire Cat Inspiration dress.  What I didn't tell you is I also made it in mini!

This was for Starbug, so she could match her mum!  I am so in love with the dinky sleeves!

It more or less fits as well, which is always a handy bonus (She's still too small for her birth gift!)

Cheshire Cat Inspiration Dress

I love Alice in Wonderland and in the summer I am hoping to have a very special Alice project to show you.  But for now, let me show you this Cheshire Cat inspired dress I made for a friend's Christmas gift.

It's a mash up of Alabama Chanin patterns and all the seams are on the outside on purpose.  I used pink and purple t-shirting and I really enjoyed making this!

I am now wondering about making a stripey dress for me!

Nessie!

What does anyone need for Christmas?  Fuax Taxidermy Nessie Head?  Well, I thought so!

Making this amused me hugely! It's the giraffe head from my faux taxidermy pattern and I used toy snake eyes to give it a more mythical look.

The hardest part was sewing the tiny tam'o'shanter into place!  But I adore the little pompom!

Anyone got any good suggestions for other creatures I could faux taxidermy?

Blinging Up Crowns

So, I didn't entirely make this!  Katy sells these adorable tiny lace crowns and I knew I wanted to give one to my friend Lamoriel for Christmas, but I also knew I wanted it a bit...  well Blingier!  So I bought a red crown off Katy, got my beads out and went to work!

I added a line of red pearl beads  round the base and some red seed beads along the arch design in the lace.  I then added a single gold seed bead to the centre of each lace flower.

I'm so pleased with how it turned out!  Lizard (who was with me when I added the beads), was so impressed that she asked nicely to have her crown blinged up and picked out the beads she wanted on it.

As you can see here, the end result was much admired as well!

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2018!  I'm looking forward to creating many new garments and learning a few new skills this year!

Teaching Lizard how to take a selfie is a Godmothers duty, yes?

I'm also looking forward to spending more time with all my small people!
