Purple Robe

In addition to this shirt I have also made an over robe.  It's a very simple one, mostly to add a splash of colour to the outfit.

It has slit side seams and no fastenings.  I bias bound the front edges for a little bit of extra sturdiness since it's unlined.

Crochet Doilies (Or Mandalas)

Because Caled told me to!  This is entirely his fault!  I have to say though...  I think I'm a little bit in love with making them (as I type my second is on the hook and I am off to learn how to 'hdc' as soon as I'm done writing)

I plan to make a fair few of these to adorn my tables in the prettiest manner possible!  This one is Peace In 8 Rounds and very manageable for a beginner like myself.

Hats Are Where It's At!

Mr Kit's boss has gone on maternity leave so I ran up a tiny hat for the new bundle of joy and a toddler slouch beanie for the original bundle of joy!

I am just about out of this red starry t-shirting now, which makes me sad (but it is good to use it all up!

Welcome Starbug!

A couple of weeks ago I became a pseudo-Aunty to my fourth pseudo-niece!  She's tiny (really, so tiny, I'm not sure I've ever held a smaller baby) and gorgeous.  She also has geeky parents so the choice of birth gift was clear...

Yes that's a cthulu onsie!  I used the pattern from the Great British Sewing Bee book (it's actually for a teddy bear pram suit), but I left off the ears, added wings and tentacles and made it in green fleece.

I'm stupidly proud of the wings, because I sketched the pattern shape myself and I'm naff at drawing so to have them turn out so well is great!

Please excuse the awful photos, they were taken in a hurry late at night!

The hood decoration is also fleece as are the eyes - I didn't want anything hard that could hurt Starbug's head.  It does up with poppers down the front as I feel that any other method of closing babies clothes is really mean on the parents (and shows the maker has never had to bundle a squirmy baby into said clothing...).

Sadly, she is going to have to wait quite a while to wear this as it came out a bit on the large side, but with any luck that's her hallowe'en costume sorted!  If  it's been grown out of or still doesn't fit by then, fear not for I have plans to make her a teeny tiny Alice in Wonderland Costume!

Waterfall Front Cardigan

More stash busting!

I used this tutorial, but I used the alabama chanin t-shirt pattern as opposed to making my own because I am lazy and life is too short!

This is a really comfy cardie and whilst it's not quite warm enough for the really cold wind we've got atm, I'm looking forward to using it loads in the spring!

Please excuse the background boxes.  My house is just full of boxes atm!

Pincushion and Needle Case

A friend's birthday gift!

I embroider both of them and added a pretty flower to the needle case.

I have to say, I'm very tempted to make some of these for myself as I think they turned out really prettily!

New T-Shirt!

I've been trying to stash bust recently (hoping to move house at some point this year and I could do with winnowing down the fabric pile before we have to pack), so I've been running up some stuff for myself in my free moments!

First up is this t-shirt, the usual Alabam Chanin pattern.  I only had just enough of this fabric for a t-shirt, having picked it up in a remnant sale in one of my local shops and it was really nice to finally get round to using it!

My favourite thing about the t-shirt is the fact that I changed the direction of the fabric for the bindings!

It's a very comfortable t-shirt and I am loving wearing it as often as it's clean!

Larp Shirt - The Purple One

Made another basic larp shirt, this time in purple cotton!

The pattern is Butterick 4486 and this shirt has lovely tiny square purple cuff buttons!

And you know when a shirt is appreciated when it gets worn all day even though that wasn't part of the plan!

Wol!

An owl for an owl loving friend!  Lots of lovely scraps used up and it's beautifully strokeable due to the velvet.
