They Don't Stay Small

As much as I glory in watching all the pseudo-nieces grow and learn new things a tiny part of me wants them to stay small forever.  They obviously can't, but I take photos so as to have a visual record for later.

With that in mind, here's a little pic of Lizard, snoozing at our Easter BBQ.

It's tough being little!

Also, it brings back memories of both Small Bean and Tiny Bean having napped in those blankets, when they were both littler!  Precious memories.

Belt Loop Sashes

Sorry for Thursday's unintended miss, I was so busy prepping for a family party on Good Friday I forgot to post!

Anyway, today's post is a set of belt sashes made for some LT Vipers (if you are one of the Vipers who's had a sash made for you, hullo!  I hope you like it and for pity's sake, don't launder it!)

There are 12 in total, 11 'plain' ones and one slightly more fancy one for the group leader.  The plain ones are made of blue poly-cotton and are bagged out with the loop space at the top just hemmed so a belt can pass through it.

The tree emblems are a transfer to ensure total accuracy of their group emblem.

The leader's one is backed in cotton velvet  and trimmed with a narrow silver ribbon.  I also gave it a different shape at the bottom, just because I could.  I was given a lot of freedom with this make and I'm very grateful for being allowed to have fun with other people's kit!

Don't they all look smart together?

Blue Velvet Robe

Can you tell the summer larp season is nearly upon us?  Yes I've got lots of sewing on right now!  Here's a robe I made my friend Tyrion to celebrate his character's ic promotion.

It's blue velvet lined with purple cotton and trimmed with purple grosgrain ribbon.

It has no fastenings as the eventual plan is that it'll be held in place by a hero belt.

The sides are open to the waist to allow for lunging and it has wizardy sleeves and a mandarin collar.

The lapels are accidental but everyone agreed they look good! I drafted the pattern myself with inspiration from a picture Tyrion sent me and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!

Tiny Pinafore No. 2

I have made Lizard two pinafores, because lets face it, who knew a toddler who kept anything clean ever, let alone a white apron worn on a weekend camping trip?!

This one is trimmed with pink satin ribbon and a tiny lace ruffle at the neck.  It also has a broderie angliase hem and little rainbow buttons.

As a bonus here's a charming picture of Lizard's daddy in her hat.  Doesn't he look charming?!

Tiny Pinafore No.1

Lizard is off to her summer larps soon (with her grownups I feel I should add, not by herself!) and needs new kit.  So I've made her some pinafores.

This is the first one!  I adapted this pattern, added pintucks and trimmed it with rosebuds, broderie anglaise and big buttons,

Here is Lizard modelling whilst playing with her beloved kitchen.  I also made her the tiny mob cap, which has rosebuds on the top and is trimmed with lace.

She's quite keen on the hat and fairly unfussed about the pinafore.  I loved making the pinafore though, so I forsee a few more of those in my sewing future!
