New T-Shirt

Sorry, today's post is a bit late!  I was Katrin yesterday and the game ran late and I basically ran out of puff so this did not get written in time.  Ah well, better late than never!

So, I had some of the blue t-shirting from the summer dress left over and as the sewing machine and overlocker were already threded up I made a couple of t-shirts!

The pattern is also from the Alabama Chanin book.  I feel like I need more of their books!  And yet...  I'm not done loving this one yet.  Decisons, decisons....

I made this t-shirt a fraction larger than the grey one and it's really helped the fit I feel.  Once again, I have added a transfer from my little book of iron on transfers (must get some more of these as well, such genius things!).

I quite like this planet transfer, it's fun!  Not accurate but there we go, it's art instead!

I have used the last of the blue t-shirting to make a ship t-shirt, but I will show that another day!  My photographer for these pics was lovely Jan, and the photos were taken in the beer garden at The Globe pub whilst we waited for it to open.  I had a lovely day then and my t-shirt was a definite success, so hurrah all round!

I still have pirate kit to show you and our team flag that I sewed in character whilst we were being pirates.  Hopefully I'll find time to photograph it all to show you on Thursday.  See you then!

Summer Dress

I have made another pattern from my Alabama Chanin book.  Oh I love the patterns in this book!

This time round I made the mid length dress in plain blue t-shirting.  As with all the other patterns I've made from this book, I've over locked the inner seams and then added the edge binding with a decorative machine stitch.  On this dress it's in rainbow thread, mostly because I didn't have any blue that matched so I thought why now go for a fun contrast?

I plan to wear this for work (in fact I did today, very comfy!).  I can wear knee length leggings underneath it (essential when hanging out with small children who are no respecters of personal space) and it's a really comfy dress.  Looks nice teamed with a cardigan.

It's a simple a-line shift dress and the bottom is unhemmed.  Another fun thing about t-shirting.  It doesn't fray so you can be lazy!

All in all, whilst I don't think this is the mostly flattering thing I've ever made, I don't think it looks bad and it's really nice to wear.  I also think it'll be great for looking nice but staying cool in the heat of summer.

The Elven Ball

So, I spent a lot of January and February making this dress and I'm so pleased to be able to show it to you!

Amazing waist due to corsetry
At this point I should say all credit for the photos goes to Katy, who came to the ball specifically to take photos for us.  Thank-you Katy!

Fancy pants hair to match the frock
The dress is brown taffeta.  The lining is green and red (because that was what I had to hand).

Making deals with my Cousin
The vines were the work of many hands! Katy, Ruthwhoisnotablogger and Abiwhoisalsonotablogger pinned. looked, pinned some more and pinned again for me one evening, then I hand stitched the green vines on, which took a week.

Arty shots that had me balanced on a chair and Katy flat on her back on the floor!

The brown vines were pinned to compliment the green and hand stitched, which took another week.  The flowers thankfully, took a day and then I embroidery my clan symbol behind the flowers, which took a few more days!
Pretty embroideries!
The clan embroideries are done in a colour changing rayon.  I really hate rayon.  Even if it does look nice now!  I just used a simple back stitch to do the embroideries.

The pattern for the dress is a mix of two different Simplicity patterns.  I used 2692 for the bodice (version C) and the skirt of 2442.  Mostly, because I wanted an A-line skirt and I ran out of time to draft my own.

Making polite chitchat.  Or a deal...  Or possibly both!

Having my mask tied on under all the curls

My mask was acquired from ebay.  I had to chop some of the nose out though, and stitch it back together.  I have a tiny nose and the mask was far too wide for my face!

Signing the book of deals
And finally, my amazing boots that didn't get seen all evening but are so pretty!

The ball was amazing, I won best IC outfit and I had a great time.  Many thanks to the GM's, the monsters and my fellow players!  I really enjoyed making my dress, now I just need to find an excuse to wear it again!

I Made A Frock Coat In A Day

And vowed never again!  Here are some quick pics.  More another day, when I have recovered from the amazing weekend larp I wore it at.

It now has buttons. But also needs a wash due to mud and Holli powder.  A good weekend!

Dresden Plate Cushion

So, at the last Knitting and Stitching Show I went to, I picked up a Dresden plate quilt template ruler.  Then, had no time or energy to do anything with it and so it got put on the back burner.

Then, between Christmas and the New Year, I did have some free time, so I made one Dresden plate.  Because I could!

After that, I needed to do something with it, so I turned it into a cushion cover.

The Dresden is made from previous quilting scraps and the cushion cover is gold satin (remnants from one of my mothers ball gowns I think).

It looks really nice with the rest of the cushions, though Mr Kit now complains he's too afraid of getting the cushions dirty.  Oh well, more comfort for me!

Tardis Flannel!

Continuing it the theme of 'look, I can do this knitting thing!', I knitted Katy a birthday present.

Here it is blocking! Katy loves Dr Who, so I was really pleased to find this pattern.  Sadly, I can't seem to find it again!  As soon as I do, I'll put a link up here.  I managed fairly well (only a few mistakes and I fixed them) and I really hope Katy likes it!

Frozen Post!

Nothing new, exactly to show today, but what do you think of the Ana costume I pulled together from existing makes?

It's not exact by any stretch of the imagination, but it comes close enough that I got recognised!  And, most importantly it pleased the small person whose party it was.

And really, you can't ask for more than that!
