Happy Birthday Me Part 2

On my actual Birthday we visited Arnos Vale.  Possibly not to everyone's taste but I had a lovely time!

This time, I wore a circle with an Alabama Chanin t-shirt bodice and a circle skirt which was drafted by the fabulously talented Katy (who also helped sew it, because I decided I needed this dress with less than 48hrs before I actually needed to put it on because I'm clever like that...)

The petticoat is one I already owned and the waist sash was very hastily made from faux satin.  The dress itself is a gorgeous floral print t-shirting.

It's a very fun outfit and I can't wait to wear it again!

That said, petticoats add quite a weight to you, don't they?

Lots of photos, because why not?

Parasols, incidentally, are amazing and I encourage everyone I know to acquire one!

Happy Birthday Me!

I've leveled up again and so I made myself a couple of frocks to celebrate!

This is McCalls 7117 version B with the longest length skirt for maximum twirl!

All photos were taken at my birthday party, just before we played 'Parcel Parcel' and made candyfloss!

I had a wonderful day and I can't wait to wear this dress again!

Ballerina Doll Kit

A few Christmases ago, Mr Kit gave me a make your own ballerina kit.  I finally got around to making it!

The instructions were pretty easy to follow, though I did adapt it slightly (my ballerina has actual shoes!

She was a lovely sew and she is much admired by Lizard who has named her after her ballet teacher.

I'm wondering about making a few more rag dolls, as I think she needs friends, don't you?

Sword Bag

I finally got a synthetic training sword!  It's super cool but as it's not advisable to carry swords in public (even plastic ones) I needed a bag for it.

Here's my handy model showing off my shiny new sword!  I wanted my sword bag to match my kit bag and luckily I still had some of the fabric so...

The bag is made from rose printed chambray and denim, with a herringbone tape strap and green bias binding and trim.

The construction is a simple draw string bag made to fit my sword and tapered so as not to be too baggy at the pointy end.

As you can see it matches my kit bag and the sheer frivolity of it makes me grin every time I see it!

Birthday Bandana

Made for my friend Tyrion as a birthday gift!

It's made of green cotton and has a guild badge and the alchemical symbol for earth on it.

Happy Birthday and be glad I didn't let my inner Stephie pick out the gift!

Fairy Teepee

Look what appeared in my garden!

I wonder if we'll see any more evidence of fairies as the summer arrives? :D

Popular Hat

Mr Kit and Lizard both kept borrowing my hat and so I made them each one of their own!

Fun fact - the first hat I made for Lizard came out far too small and so now I have a new baby gift ready and waiting for a future small person!

They both seem quite pleased with their hats!

A Very Belated Birthday Gift

Bad Pseudo Aunty!  I was so late to give this gift to Starbug!  Luckily for me, she is still a diddy little thing so no worries about her having grown out of it in the interim!

Yet another Cottage Mama Party dress!  This one in white satin with blue satin contrast and a blue satin waist ribbon.

Wooden tree buttons and a little flower at the waist just for a pretty!

Starbug was, predictably, way more excited by the wrapping paper!
