Paladin Tabard

I made a tabard for a new BathLARP paladin the other day!

It's blue cotton drill trimmed with gold satin ribbon and black soutache braiding.

As per request, it comes to a point in the front and back and because I though it'd look better it has a square neckline.

The neckline has a facing and the shoulder seams have been flat felled for extra strength.

I love how it turned out and I'm lookign forward to seeing the Paladin in action!

Vampire Ball 1883 - Valentina's Dress

Another year, another ball, another masterwork frock!  Valentina is setting the bar high for herself!

Some of you might recognise this as looking a lot like my Lady Sybil Ramkin cos play and the reason for that is it's that skirt (and a couple of the underpinnings).  I made a whole new bodice though!

I also made a fake bustle thing, and my bag (plus the dance card, but you've seen that already!)

This bodice is fitted to my corseted form and it's biggest feature is the huge collar!  I admit to making it slightly differently than the pattern suggested, but I really like how my channels look and I loved the added detail it gave the dress!

I made the sleeves double puffed this time which I really liked and the bustle, for all that it was a last minute thrown together thing is one of my favourite parts as it makes my bum pad look really good!

It is a VERY swooshy dress and was an excellent dancing frock, I didn't trip over my hem even once!

You can catch a glimpse of my petticoat  as I spin, how scandalous!

I had such a wonderful night, it was amazing!  Lastly, check out this wondrous picture by the fabulously talented Jonathon Habens

Isn't it amazing?!  He's such a good photographer and very patient with awful models like me!

Rush Job Chemise

Not a lot to say about this one beyond I was super proud of myself for getting it done in about 3 days and it fitting despite me having to guesstimate a few numbers (I didn't see Savaria until I handed it over so no measurments or fittings!)

It's made of white cotton lawn, with a drawstring neck and elasticated cuffs.

I love cotton lawn, it's so lovely and delicate to work with!

Please excuse the poor quality pictures, they were as last minute as the sewing!

A Right Royal Hankie

An IC gift for the God Emperor Mithras.  Who I am actually rather annoyed with in character, but I didn't think it would be a wise move to say so.

When we last met, we talked about Virgil and the bees, so I embroidered him some bees on a hankie.

It's chainstitch outlines on purple cotton!

Embarrassingly, I have failed to get a photo of the finished thing, so you'll have to make do with with this picture of the embroidery finished!  Mithras did seem pleased with his gift, so all in all it's good!

Vampire Ball 1883

Goodness, it' feels like I've been working on this forever!  We had our annual ball at Vampire and I have sooo many things I made to show you!

Today, I thought I'd show some of my character's gifts to various high up important people in the game world.

I made dance cards!   We use cards at our ball, but our cards are just paper and it's really easy to lose them, so I thought a booklet would be handy both in and out of character!

Erika Leroux is the (current) Prince of Bath and loves rowan blossom, so I had a go at sketching my own design and sewing for her!

Anne Bowesley is London's current seneschal and sunflowers mean admiration/appreciation so I thought that would be a good choice for her.

Christine, is not a high up, but as her player ooc did loads of work for the game as an AST and we're ic friends I figured she could have one too! She's worn hawthorn blossom in her hair before so I attempted so sketch and sew some!

Obviously, I needed one for me and what flower could any Toreador want, beyond a rose?  Mine is made in my dress fabric and trimmed with the lace my skirt and bodice are decorated with.

Handmade Gift Swap - Part 3

Last but not least, what else do you need if you drink a lot of tea?  Coasters to put your mug on of course!

I used the same fabrics as I did for the tea wallet and the middle is 2 layes of heatproof quilt batting.

I did little appliques just to add interest on the front.

Handmade Gift Swap - Part 2

The second thing I made was a tea wallet as my recipient apparently loves tea!

I used this tutorial to make the wallet.  The outside is a floral needlecord.

The inside is a floral polycotton.  As you can see, I filled it with tea (gotta check the fit, right?)

I am starting to feel like I should make one of these for myself!

Handemade Gift Swap - Part 1

An internet group I'm part of does a gift swap and I signed up for the latest one.  It was so much fun!

I made three things and the first part which I wanna show you today, is a Ravenclaw Hoop Art.

I used a metallic bronze thread to sew the outline onto a blue polycotton.  Metallic thread continues to be evil, but I really love how it turns out!

I've since heard from the recipient and she says she loved it so yay!

A Birthday Princess Dress

Small Bean is 5!  How did that happen?  I'm sure she was only a baby last time I looked! Anyway, last time she was round we talked birthday gifts and apparently the in thing this year for the discerning 5yr old is a princess dress, as pink as is possible.  Well...  WHo am I to gain say such authority?

Please excuse the poor photos - I've been so busy recently I had to take the pics the minute I finished it and that was quite late at night...

The dress is pink stage satin, with a hot pink lace hem, a pink sequin star applique and a petersham ribbon with white circles printed on it.

I also added a rose ribbon trim to the neckline and it's got pink polka dot buttons.

I am reliably informed that it meets all requirements!  Phew!
